Great show, been listening to a few thanks to the oft mentioned smoothstyle.
Just a quick few points following Body Blow 16 and your comments at the end when comparing Calzaghe’s legacy v BHop -felt I had to defend what sounded like a bit of a biased comparison.
I don’t think you were being entirely fair in your comparison between the two when you rolled out the names of who is on Calzaghe’s record as opposed to BHops. You asked rhetorically whether people had heard of the names he has beaten. You also stated BHop fighting 8 ex champions and the suggestion was that Joe’s record does not compare.
Listening to your show you are obviously very knowledgable and I agree with most of what you say so I was surprised you inferred you had not heard of the likes of Robin Reid (ex WBC champ), Chris Eubank (which I am sure you have heard of - ex WBO champ), Ritchie Woodall (ex WBC champ) Byron Mitchell (ex WBA champ), Charles Brewer (ex IBF champ), Omar Sheika (supposed next big thing from US who was supposed to come over and kick JC’s butt!
So while I am not saying JC deserves to be ahead of BHop in terms of legacy I don’t think he is as far behind as you were making out.
BHop (8 ex champions on record i think you said)
JC (6 ex or curent (lacy)
remember Hopkins is also older and had more fights so how many of his ex champs came after his 43rd fight which is where JC is now.
Also up to and including 43 fights BHops opposition had ammassed 754 wins against 241 losses.
